📧 DAY 5 – Risk vs Reward: Know When to Go, Know When to Let Go.
Be bold. Be smart. Be both.
Tiger Woods played by this rule: Make aggressive swings to conservative targets. You should too.
⚖️ How to balance risk and reward:
If you're not fully committed, it's the wrong shot.
Trust check:
→ Do you feel 100% sure about this shot?
→ If not, step back. Pick a target or club you can trust.
Smart targets = confident swings:
→ A good target makes it easier to swing aggressively.
→ Aim away from trouble, not away from confidence.
Play with discipline, not ego:
→ The best decision isn’t always the boldest.
→ A lay-up or safe line can save you strokes, not cost them.
✍️ My personal story
If every time I teed it up, you told me I’d have a 20 or 30 foot putt for birdie, I’d take it, no matter how long or short the hole is. That’s my goal: give myself a chance. Even on short par 4s or par 5s when I’ve hit a great drive and only have 50 yards left, my strategy doesn’t change. I’m still just trying to give myself a putt.
What I see a lot, especially with my junior players is that when they get close to the green, they start forcing shots. They feel like they have to put it super close, and that’s when unforced errors happen. I used to do the same thing. But once I shifted my mindset and committed only to shots I trusted I stopped making those silly mistakes that would make me spiral and make bigger mistakes.
Don’t let the distance trick you. Just because you're close doesn't mean you have to change your strategy. Your number one job: give yourself a putt.
đź’ˇ Key insight:
Bravery in golf isn’t about going for everything, it’s about knowing when not to.
🌀 Reflect and Reset:
Do you base your targets on what you want to do or what you can do with confidence?
Almost there just two more days to go!
Day 6 tomorrow.
