📧 DAY 3 – Green Calibration: Get a Feel Before You Feel Pressure
Want fewer 3-putts? Stop guessing.
Too many golfers “guess” how the greens are rolling once they’re on the course. Having a system you can use no matter the course you play will help you adjust.
🎯 Putting Calibration
Practice from key distances: 10ft, 20ft, 30ft
Use your normal stroke, no adjusting for speed yet
Watch how far the ball rolls past the tee or toward your target
Take mental notes: Is it rolling slower than usual, faster than usual, or about the same as what you’re used to?
⛳ The goal: Stop guessing. Get a sense of pace before your first real putt.
🏌️♀️ Chipping Calibration
Checklist Before You Play:
What’s the turf like around the greens today?
→ Tight? Sticky? Wet? Bouncy? How much rollout are you getting with each club?
→ PW, 9i, 8i, what works best today?Pick a landing spot and test 2–3 clubs.
→ Use what gives you the best control, not what “should” work.
⛳ The goal: Choose the right shot before you need it under pressure.
✍️ My personal story:
If my pre-round warm-up time is limited, I always choose to spend that time getting a feel for chipping and putting. I’ll still do a quick full-body warm-up to get loose, but I know where the biggest impact on my score really comes from.
For me, if my short game feels good, I can usually manage my way around the course, even if my swing isn’t perfect that day. But if I’m hitting greens in regulation and have no idea how the ball is rolling, those three-putts can shake my confidence faster than a missed green.
That’s just how my game works. Knowing how the greens are behaving gives me a sense of control and sets the tone for my round..
💡 Key insight:
Hope is not a strategy, especially on the greens. Feel + Feedback = Fewer 3-putts.
🌀 Reflect and Reset:
Do you have a system for putting and chipping warm-up or are you hoping for the best?
