📧 DAY 1 – Pre-Round Planning: Set Yourself Up for Success
Want to score better? Start before you tee it up.
As golfers, we’re on the course for 4 to 5 hours, yet most of us spend less than 5 minutes thinking about how to prepare.
Think about it:
4.5 hours of play
30 minutes warming up
Time to drive to the course…
That’s a big part of your day. But too often we just show up and expect to play well.
âś… What does solid pre-round planning look like?
Warm-up routine that works for you
→ Not to fix your swing, but to feel confident
Fuel + Hydration Plan
→ What are you eating/drinking to stay consistent for 18 holes?
Mental Reminders Before the First Tee
→ What’s my intention for today’s round?
(Play free? Stay steady? Be curious? Trust my swing?)
→ What’s one thing I’ll come back to when things get tough?
(A swing feel, a tempo word, or even just deep breathing)
✍️ My personal story:
Prioritising my nutrition before a round completely changed the way I finished rounds. I used to feel drained by hole 13, and that’s when the blow-ups started. Once I started planning what I ate and drank, that changed.
I avoid high-sugar snacks and drinks. Instead, I focus on protein and low-sugar carbs, things that keep my energy stable instead of spiking and crashing. This doesn’t just help physically, it helps mentally too.
If you feel like your rounds become an emotional roller coaster, take a hard look at how you’re fueling your body. You might be surprised how much it affects your game.
đź’ˇ Key insight:
Confidence is something you build, not hope for before the round begins.
🌀 Reflect and Reset:
What’s one part of your pre-round you’ve ignored that might be costing you shots?
Know someone who could use a little course management reset? Share this with them.
Looking forward to sharing Day 2!
